High purity, brilliantly white, durable, and highly resistant to tarnish, Argentium Silver is the first significant advance to this queen of noble metals in centuries.
Copper has been alloyed with pure silver for hundreds of years to convert it to Sterling, a harder, more wearable material. But, with Sterling, came tarnish and penetrating fire scale.
Invented by Peter Johns, an accomplished silversmith at Middlesex University in the United Kingdom, Argentium silver is a formulation that is free of the silversmith's fire scale bane, and the most tarnish resistant silver available.
Before it was available in the United States, David ran test trials on the newest and most pure form of Argentium silver, Argentium 960, working with Peter Johns, and using material from Peter's own, personal stock. Argentium 960 is more pure than 925 Sterling, yet can be made harder, and more durable.
To establish just how hard castings could be made, and the suitability of Argentium 960 for his tension-set pendants, David ran an exhaustive course of investigative tests, examining the nature of the material and the most effective means of hardening it. The result of these tests is the practical confluence of this outstanding new material with David's artistic talent.
The three pendants shown here are some of the first ever, cast Argentium tension settings - settings that secure stones through the spring action in the design. This is a product never before possible with the old silvers. Additional designs are posted in the portfolio section of this site.
