After receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Rhode Island School of Design in 1972, David returned to his hometown of Seattle, where he opened a studio.
He loved the scale of the life-sized figurative work that he was doing, but when he later had a hands on opportunity in jewelry making, he was immediately intrigued by it; His attention to detail actually made this small-scale work an ideal medium.
In 1978 he and his wife, Helen, opened a small retail store in Northern California, and they entered the broader wholesale market in 1985.
David's sculptural sense of shape and form, and his spirit of innovation, are evident in his work, and continue to inspire him.
